Its valve body is designed with threaded bolt holes (lug), which are used to connect the valve to the pipe flange through bolts. When the operator turns the valve stem through the lever, the valve plate rotates accordingly, thereby controlling the flow of the fluid. In the fully open position, the valve plate is perpendicular to the direction of fluid flow, allowing the fluid to pass freely. In the fully closed position, the valve plate is parallel to the fluid flow direction and closely adheres to the valve seat to prevent the fluid from passing through.
